Ankles hurting from uphill treadmill - what else is good? - by: Thikron

For the last two and a half weeks or so, I've been doing about 15 minutes of cardio a day where I run on a treadmill using the 15% incline until I reach a mile. The speed is usually 7.8kph (4.8mph). I always do a full set of stretches before beginning the cardio, but I only hold each stretch for 10 seconds or so.

Recently, I've begun to feel some light joint pain in my ankles. I looked online, and it looks as though the uphill running is particularly hard on the ankle joints. Today I did much more calf stretching than I normally do, but I'm starting to wonder whether I shouldn't switch to a different form of training.

Has anyone got any suggestions? I'm doing the cardio both to burn calories and also to train my heart.
