Anyone have any experience mounting a drop in free float rail on an AR upper receiver?
I'm currently looking at this midwest industries rail

But I know Daniel Defense makes the Omega rail

I'm confused on how something which is a drop in system and uses the D ring and supposedly the front sight block cup to hold it in place can be "free floating". Doesn't make sense to me, but I've seen both systems being described as free float rails.
To clarify this is on a 16 in. BCM upper with a midlength gas system. Currently have the magpul handguard in the FDE color, but I'm sick of the plasticy feel and want some metal on the front.
