I've decided that I want to come off alcohol and give the GLL diet a go, or something like it with high protein, low carbs and exercise. I've decided that I've got nothing to lose from trying to improve myself and will NEVER get anywhere stuck in the rut I'm in now. If I can't improve myself to at least above average then so be it but I wanna give it a damn good shot before I finally give up and LDAR.

I'm currently an alcoholic who has been drinking 700ml of spirit per night for quite a number of days. Since late last year I have reduced the amounts I drink per night several times since after getting advice (a few weeks ago there was at least one night where I only drank 300ml, and I only drank THAT because I was scared of serious withdrawal symptoms and nearly didn't drink ANYTHING), but I have kept backsliding and not sticking to the plan, partly due to feeling bad or something bad happening..

I wish I could go whole nights without drinking (I haven't managed this in over a year now) so I can seriously start to try to change my life. I'm going to drop it down to 500ml tonight and try and stick to this.

Does anyone know how quickly I could get down to zero without having any (or minimal) withdrawal symptoms ? What would be the absolutely HIGHEST rate of alcohol reduction that I could do without experiencing symptoms or at worst just slight symptoms ?
