Alright so here's the deal. I can't post this on facebook cause I'm sure "feminist" girls I know will attack me. (Nothing against feminism, but it's become wildly misappropriated)
ANYWAYS. The concept of fat shaming is dumb. First of all, purposely making someone feel self conscious about their weight is mean. It shouldn't happen. And women's depiction in the media, in terms of body type, may be unrealistic.
Celebrity girls that are considered "plus sized" are not. Take Amy Schumer. She's not fat. And she's not an unrealistic skinny model.
I think where people go wrong with fat shaming is assuming it's OK to be fat/overweight/obese. It's not. It's really not. Not even for just appearance reasons. Being overweight is horrible for your health, and diet and exercise should play a big part in peoples lives.
The idea that "you should love your body no matter what" is a bunch of horseshit. Take me for example. I got on medications last year that have made me gain between 20-40 pounds. Do I hate my body? Sure. Does it make me feel self conscious? No. Do I parade my body in a bikini and get upset that people call me fat? NO! Because that is unrealistic! In my case, I walk between 2-4 miles a day, I eat healthy, and I exercise. (Well not lately cause I had surgery)
YOU SHOULD TRY TO IMPROVE YOUR BODY!
That's the thing I think many of these women are missing. They just settle with how they look, and become super duper offended if anyone says they need to work on their body. The reason they get away with having those complaints is mainly because, the people who make comments, aren't constructive about it. Usually they're dicks.
The best way to metaphorically explain what I'm saying is by watching the South Park episode about My Safe Space and dealing with how "evil" reality is (who's actually an evil skinny looking villian).
Thank you for reading my rant. I have needed to get this off of my chest for a long long time.
