Hey guys,
So my current plan is to start bulking and put on a ton of muscle mass before then cutting down bodyfat to get to the idea 6%.
I have been reading a LOT over the past few weeks about bulking up but doing so in a clean manner (ie not gaining a TON of fat and loss of facial aesthetics along the road).
Now when I was 17 or so I bulked up a huge amount eating anything and everything eating 6 times a day till my guts exploded bulking from 57kg to over 83kg over a few years. I remember eating a lot of bread, chicken, meat, protein shakes but feeling like shit most of the time, feeling bloated and having very low energy levels.
Now this time I would rather bulk up more gently and so my question to you is this:
Eating over your maintenance level i.e. if you maintenance is 3000 calories, you eat 3250 every day to gain weight slowly over time. This is obvious. But does the MACRONUTRIENTS matter? For example I had read that you should NEVER mix high fat and high carbs together (insulin bomb). But when you are gaining weight does it matter?
Victor Pride says go high fat/high protein low carb when bulking if you are natural (currently I am), and high carb, high protein, low fat if you are on gear. Most people say eat a LOT of carbs when bulking up and that having something like 20-30% fat (still a LOT) isn't detrimental.
So right now I am trying to establish a baseline calorie maintenance level to see how much I need to increase my calorie intake by. I work out almost every day so am I correct in saying I don't need to modify the 'bulking' daily calorie intake based on if it is a workout day or rest day? I.e. if you DO have rest days you keep all calories the same - same amount and same macronutrients?
I appreciate any feedback. I want to get started on this soon and don't really want to worry about the whole carb cycling stuff until I have reached my maximum muscle mass and am then focused on learning out. I know all about carb cycling, insulin sensitivity and so in the context of losing weight and leaning out.
My focus is purely on bulking but 'clean bulking' so I don't gain a ton of fat.
I should also say I AM planning on introducing SARMs like ostarine so I am not sure if this will factor into what the macronutrient arrangement should look like when bulking up.
Thanks guys.
